What Do Caregivers Do?

If you regularly
  • make phone calls to check in on a loved one
  • drive a family member, friend or neighbor to doctor's appointments
  • make meals for someone
  • help with household chores such as meal preparation, cleaning and grocery shopping
  • assist someone with personal business affairs, such as bill paying
  • provide hands-on care, such as bathing or assistance with eating
  • help someone to make decisions about health care
the you ARE a Caregiver.  There are an estimated 15.9 million Caregivers in the United States who still work full-time.  There are even more who have stopped working in order to provide care for a friend or family member.

Most people who provide care for a friend or loved on do not think of themselves as a Caregiver.

Caregivers provide a wide range of services that help the elderly or disabled maintain a more comfortable existence. Perhaps your role as a caregiver is simply to be a friend, a companion, someone to talk to or just have around.
